Bio

I am an Italian artist with Cape Verdean roots, graduating with top honors from the Academy of Fine Arts. My professional journey shortly after, collaborating with the esteemed Italian publisher GG Studio.

Currently, I work as a freelance illustrator and penciler for a diverse range of partners, including Zenescope Entertainment (known for Grimm Fairy Tales and Wonderland), Sumerian Comics (Hotline Miami Wildlife, The Illusion Witch), and Sergio Bonelli Editore (Il Commissario Ricciardi). In 2013, I established the collective and publisher Artsteady, launching the indie comic 47 Deadman Talking, which received significant acclaim in Italy.

In 2024, I unveiled my most ambitious creator-owned project, Nimbus Sonata. In January 2025, I made my debut with Mirage Comics on Hollywood Horror Stories, alongside the internationally celebrated author John Romita Jr.

🎬 HOLLYWOOD HORROR STORIES – Dietro le quinte 🎬

Quando si lavora a una tavola, trovare la reference giusta può fare la differenza tra un’illustrazione statica e una scena davvero dinamica. In questo caso, ho trovato il modello perfetto per lo studio della posa: il fidato manichino ultra snodabile! 🦾

🌟 Come è andata @umbriacon 2025?
Potrei raccontarvi di una fiera giovane, piena di energia positiva e di belle persone. Potrei parlarvi degli artisti di talento che ho conosciuto, da grandi firme a nuove promesse, e di quanto sia stato arricchente scambiare idee con loro.

Le colazioni con @eduardorissocomics e suo figlio, la cena con @darickwr a discutere di politica, e naturalmente l'incontro con il leggendario @johnromitajr sono ricordi che porterò sempre con me.

Non posso non menzionare la grande ospitalità del popolo Umbro e la pace che si respira tra le strade e i luoghi di questa splendida terra.

It’s been almost a week since I got back from @fantaexpo, and I haven’t had a chance to post any thank-yous or artwork until now. Time to catch up! 😌 As always, it was a fantastic experience, and I want to give a special shout-out to Gerdardo D'Ambrosio @becco_gekkato and the whole staff. The team is young, but they work incredibly hard, and I wish nothing but the best for both Fanta Expo and @otakugardensalerno 🎉

A heartfelt salute to all the fans, friends and amazing artists I had the pleasure of meeting. These conventions are always great opportunities to connect with talented people, and I definitely met some wonderful folks. 👩‍🎨👨‍🎨

I also had the chance to do a commission that you can see in this post—a drawing of DC Comics’ Lobo. It was one of my first times working with markers, so I hope I didn’t do too badly! 😂 I love this character, and it was such a fun opportunity. I’d love to do more commissions like this in the future!

I'm excited to share one of my most appreciated covers, created for Zenescope Entertainment: Grimm Fairy Tales - Code Red #4. This piece holds a special place in my heart, and I'm incredibly proud of the work that went into it.

I've never posted the entire cover here before, so I wanted to give you all a glimpse into the full process, including the numerous layouts that led to the final piece. It was a journey filled with creativity and a bit of indecision (XD), but it was all worth it in the end!

I see the Dark Queen (the protagonist of this cover) shouting: "Cut off her head!!!" Although, to be honest, it was the Queen of Hearts who famously shouted that. Let's not get too hung up on details though, and just enjoy this cover I created for Zenescope Entertainment : Grimm Fairy Tales - Realm War #12, Cover D.

This is another leap into the past, and I'm proud to share that this cover was entirely made by me, from the drawings to the colors.

Recreating my own character (OMEN) after 6 years.
2018 vs 2024. Which one do you prefer?

I started it a long time ago, back in 2018. Characters and story evolved so much that I felt the need to re-design it when recently I brought it at Napoli @comiconitalia
I wanted to emphasize shapes and elements of OMEN (the main character) and, at the same time, simplify the shapes. This project wasn't possible without the help of my friends in @artsteadyteam that helped me to shape my ideas and encouraged me to keep making.

This is what came out, let me know your opinion!

I recently came across this sequence I draw few years ago, when I was working on "The Illusion Witch", the beautiful book written by the one and only @rubenthewriter
Ruben is such an amazing and passionate writer and he put me in a status of trance in which I naturally felt the need to push forward and find the best solutions in terms of storytelling and composition.

It doesn't happen often that, looking back to my work I'm amazed and happy with what I did, it happened for this page I'm proud of.

Also worth mentioning I was lucky enough to have a beautiful team to back me up with beautiful colors from @raphaelph8 that values my art and special lettering from @dave.does.comics.

Magic sometimes happens.

I DID IT!

Per me creare un progetto auto prodotto è un'impresa immane. Sono preso sempre da mille progetti per clienti e publisher e mi sembra un sogno essere riuscito a mettere poche pagine assieme. In piu' sono estremamente insicuro del mio lavoro e questo mi fa cancellare, rifare, riscrivere, cancellare di nuovo, senza mai chiuderli. Il tempo fa il resto. Quest'anno ho deciso di fare questo salto nel vuoto, e lasciare che il resto venga da se.

Quello che vedete qui è "Nimbus Sonata", un progetto indipendente iniziato nel lontano 2018, lo porterò al Napoli @comiconitalia quest'anno in un'anteprima formato A4 di 16 pagine.

Mi troverete allo stand @artsteadyteam dal 25 al 28 aprile. Una piccola anteprima a quello che sarà il progetto nella sua interezza.

Da qui potrebbe partire una nuova avventura!

For me, creating a creator-owned project is a huge undertaking. I'm always busy with a thousand projects for clients and publishers and it seems like a dream to have managed to put together a few pages. Plus I'm extremely insecure about my work and this makes me delete, redo, rewrite, delete again, without ever closing them. Time does the rest. This year I decided to take this leap of faith, and let the rest come by itself.

What you see here is "Nimbus Sonata", an independent project started back in 2018, I will bring it to Napoli Comicon this year in a 16-page A4 preview.

You will find me at @artsteady booth, from April 25 to 28.
